- 200 – Basic Cake DecoratingNew
- Learn the basic steps necessary to make a simple birthday cake, practice making flowers, borders, basting, and writing techniques.
- 201 – International Cooking
- Visit 6 countries in 3 nights! Learn how to prepare classic international favorites. Appetizers, soups, entrées, starches, vegetables, and desserts will be covered. Bring your appetite and a 3-ring binder to class. Over 75 recipes will be given out.
- 202 – Low-Fat Cooking
- Want to prepare healthy, tasty meals for your family? Learn how to eliminate fat and keep the flavor in your cooking. Alternative cooking methods and preparation techniques will be taught. You will receive 50 recipes. Each night we will prepare a complete low-fat meal.
- 203 – Pasta & Sauces
- Learn how to make pasta from scratch and different types of sauces. Sautéed pasta dishes and classic sauces will be covered. Over 40recipes will be handed out.
- 204 – Vegetarian Cooking
- Learn practical vegetarian meal preparation. Prepare high protein alternatives to meat. Over 65 recipes will be given out. Many tempting, nutritious meals will be prepared each night.
- 304 – Beginner’s Photoshop (Mac) -Desktop Publishing
- Adobe Photoshop is the program of choicefor graphics professionals. This course teaches essential concepts and provides a working knowledge of Photoshop for those wanting to learn how to create graphic images, manipulate photos, use a scanner, etc. In this Photoshop fundamentals course, you will learn digital imaging, resolution types, color correction tools, layers, selection techniques, and the history palette.
- 305 – Introduction to Computer Aided Drafting/AutoCAD
- This course is designed to expose the student to the principles of micro-based Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). Students will learn about and develop competency in the operation of the 2-dimensional CAD system through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on application.
- 306 – Introduction to Computers
- his course is designed for those who have little or no experience using a computer. Want to learn how to write a letter, "surf" the Internet, or send an email? This course is for you. You will learn the basic skills necessary to operate a personal computer using the Windows XP operating system. The basics of Microsoft Word will be introduced along with browsing on the Internet using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Web browser. Email skills will also be introduced. Knowledge of the keyboard is recommended. Tuition includes handouts and/or book.
- 307 – Introduction to Microsoft Word
- Instruction is designed to make the word processing experience less confusing through the graphical multitasking capabilities of Microsoft Word. The course is organized for hands-on learning, and will demonstrate how computers and integrated software improve personal and professional productivity. Knowledge of the keyboard is essential.
- 308 – Introduction to Microsoft Excel
- This course provides the basics as well as advanced knowledge in handling spreadsheet and database projects. Instruction is designed to make these experiences user-friendly throughout the course. Knowledge of the keyboard is essential.
- 309 – Introduction to HTML – Web Design
- This class is designed for students with basic knowledge and experience in personal computing and the World Wide Web. Students will learn the basics of creating Web pages using HTML. Topics covered will include inserting images and links, customizable tables and forms, and cascading style sheets.
- 311 – Learning PowerPoint
- This class is designed for students who are interested in learning the fundamentals needed to create and modify basic Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Topics covered will include adding clipart to your presentation, creating charts and tables, and presentation delivery.
- 315 – QuickBooks
- QuickBooks is a comprehensive tool for managing small business finances more effectively. This course will take students with no prior knowledge of computerized accounting to a stage where they can confidently perform elementary day-to-day operations with QuickBooks. Prerequisite: Introduction to Windows or equivalent knowledge.
- 317 – Keyboarding for Beginners
- Tired of hunting and pecking? This beginner course will get you up to speed in no time. Knowing how to type is not just a helpful business skill anymore. With the proliferation of computers, typing has become an essential life skill. The main objective of this course is to teach you how to "touch-type" while increasing your speed and accuracy. After you learn the position of the keys, you will get a basic introduction to MS Word.
- 318 – Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Become an Excel expert! Learn various advanced techniques for analyzing and manipulating data in Excel. Topics include creating and running a Macro, working with multiple spreadsheets, advanced formula construction, and customization. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Excel.
- 319 – Computers In Your Everyday Life
- Unsure about all the functions in email? Want to share pictures with family and friends? Need to type a letter or create a flyer? Do you have a digital camera and don't know what to do with it? Become familiar with the computer and learn how you can integrate it into your everyday life with real life exercises. In this class you will have the opportunity to learn about email and can practice with your own email at home. You’ll work with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer. A general concept of how to put digital pictures on a computer will also be covered. Digital camera is not required for this class. Prerequisite: Intro to Computers or some experience with Microsoft Office applications and browsing the Internet.
- 320 – Introduction to Access
- Learn the basics about this powerful database application. The class will cover the skills necessary to get started creating databases and working with data, creating queries, forms, and reports, and integrating Access with other applications.
- 351 – Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- This course will prepare students in the 5 areas of competency necessary to take the high school equivalency exam.
- 402 – Introduction to Fly Fishing New
- This indoor class will cover the basics of how to get started fly fishing. You’ll learn about the equipment, including rods, reels, lines, flies, waders, and other gear, the differences between fresh and saltwater fly fishing, basic knot tying, fishing conservation, and 1st class fly-casting with an indoor practice rod. This is a fast-paced 2-hour class designed to get you ready for the spring fishing season. Instructor will provide all materials and handouts. Bring a pen and paper for notes, if desired. Class size limited.
- 420 – Home Buying Seminar
- Want some answers to the many questions about the home buying process? An industry expert will define the roles of realtor, lender, appraiser, home inspector, and attorney. Mortgage consultant Michael Shain, who has more than 20 years of experience with a local bank, will lead the seminar. The importance of your credit report and how to determine how much home you can afford to purchase also will be covered. All seminar attendees will receive a workbook with helpful worksheets about each step of the home buying process. Class size limited to 20.
- 421 – Animal Communications
- Have you ever wanted to know what your animal companion is thinking and/or feeling? It IS possible through animal communication. It can be done with all animals. In this workshop, we’ll discuss how animal communication is possible, and practice actual animal communications so that you will know exactly how it FEELS when you get one. Examples of how animal communication can be beneficial are: perhaps your animal does not feel well and you are wondering where he is hurting, or your aging cat is very sick and you wonder if you should put her down. Bring as many photos as you have of your animals, and TELL them ahead of time that someone from the class will be communicating with them and that it is all right to speak freely! Skeptics welcomed and encouraged.
- 422 – Digital Photography
- Many of the new digital cameras have a built-in lens that can zoom and even do wide angle; however, the lens is not removable, as it is on the more expensive SLR digital cameras. If you are new to digital photography and have a digital camera, we recommend this course. You’ll learn how to get the most out of your camera and we promise you’ll be surprised at just how much your picture-taking skills improve by the end of class! We will cover types of cameras and accessories that make your photographs better, how to take better people pictures, improve your compositions, control exposure (for adjustable cameras), transfer the images to your computer, improve your pictures in the "digital darkroom," and make that all-important print on your computer’s printer. Includes one Sat. field trip (date TBA). Transportation not provided.

- 426 – Healthy Eating Without Worry New
- What should you be eating? The media is filled with conflicting information on what you should or should not eat. This course will cover what you really need to know about healthy eating without worrying about every choice you make. Learn from a registered dietitian about common nutrition myths, reading food labels, and evaluating news stories about food. Bring your questions.
- 427 – Tricky Magic Class New
- Taught by professional magician, Christopher Robin Palmer, this class will teach you how to perform over 40 tricks, and master your favorites matching your personality and skill level. The class will focus on elatively easy tricks that are proven to amaze and entertain (with practice) using household items such as coins, string, cards, newspapers, dinner napkins, etc., as well as some commercial magic suitable for the novice to intermediate prestidigitator. Magic supplies for class including class notes $20 payable to instructor on start of class.

- This class will teach basic massage techniques for the amateur to use on family and friends. Learn when it’s safe to massage and when it’s not, as well as the health benefits of touch. Relaxation massage, tension relief, and some pain reducing techniques will be included.

- 433 – Becoming a Reiki Practitioner - Usui I (Level I)
- Reiki is a centuries old, simple yet powerful method that revives and balances your energy, and promotes healing in all aspects of your being. This class will teach you the history of Reiki and will outline Reiki principles and how to use them to create a healing lifestyle. - 441 – Relaxation Reflexology
- Reflexology is a form of therapeutic bodywork practiced for centuries by the Egyptian, Chinese, and Indian cultures. It was founded on the principle that there are points on the feet that affect every organ, gland, and tissue of the body. By stimulating these points or reflexes properly, many health problems can be relieved by releasing stress and muscle tension, balancing energy, and expelling toxins, thus rejuvenating the body in a safe and natural way. Students will come away from this workshop with an understanding of Reflexology’s history, principles, and how to apply Reflexology techniques. By the end of the workshop, students will be able to perform a mini-session to release stress. Wear comfortable clothing, and bring a sheet, pillow, and towel. - Discover your grace and beauty through this timeless dance of the Middle East. Bellydancing is a wonderful way to tone and shape your body, relieve stress, and meet new people. This class will introduce you to basic bellydance movements, body isolations, correct posture, and arm and hand placements. Gain body awareness and self confidence as you learn this beautiful dance that has been handed down from generation to generation, from ancient times to the present.
- 453 – Meet Your Guardian Angels New
- Each of us has a number of Guardian Angels who watch over us, heal and protect us, and give us inspiration. In this experiential workshop you won’t just talk about angels, you’ll actually identify your angels by name, feel their loving presence, receive guidance and healing from them, and learn how to work with them on a daily basis. The only requirement for this course is an open mind. Bring a notepad and a pen.

- 472 – Estate Planning Basics New

- 503 – Basic Home Repairs
- This program will cover basic home repairs and safety in the following areas: carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Other areas such as interior and exterior painting, landscaping, tools, equipment, and other areas requested by participants may be discussed if time allows. Safety glasses must be provided by students.
- 505 – Welding (Basic)
- Hands-on demonstration and practice in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions. 6011 and 7018 rods will be used. Handout on rod selection and safety included. Limited Mig or Flux core basics available, ask when registering. Safety glasses must be provided by students.
- 507 – Woodworking I
- This course teaches the fundamentals of woodworking. You’ll learn how to safely operate all shop machines and the proper use of hand and portable power tools. By the conclusion of this course, all participants will complete a project using the knowledge gained from the topics covered. Students will need to supply their own lumber, material, and safety glasses. More information on material will be provided at the first class.
- 508 – Woodworking II New
- This course expands on the fundamentals learned in Woodworking I. Projects will be the basis of this course. Participants will discuss and receive pre-approval from the instructor of their project choice. Throughout the course, students will receive guidance from the instructor. Students will need to supply their own lumber, material, and safety glasses. More information on material will be provided at the first class. Woodworking I is a prerequisite for Woodworking II and is limited to 14 students.
- 555 – HVAC for Homeowners New
- This course will teach the homeowner the basics of residential heating and air conditioning which will enable them to understand the maintenance and operation of oil and gas fired heating systems; heat pumps and central air conditioning. Energy efficient systems will be discussed and the different options will be analyzed. Safety glasses and work boots must be provided by the students.
- 560 – Basic Electrical & Electronics New
- Learn the basics of electrical and electronic theory in this introductory course. You will learn basic circuit design, Ohm's law, series and parallel circuits (why some Christmas lights work with a broken lamp and why others do not) and will be introduced to the basic components that go into electronic circuits today. This course consists of theory as well as hands-on experience. You will learn how to solder, build a breadboard and use the common test equipment necessary to troubleshoot and fix basic electronic circuitry.
- 603 – Electrical Course for Master Certification
- (75 hours/semester) This course consists of 150 hours of instruction for licensed Journeyman Electricians preparing for Master certification. This curriculum furnishes the necessary preparation in related math, science, and business. OSHA laws and the electrical code are thoroughly explored to qualify the student for a Master Electrician license.
- 604 – Plumbing Code (Journeyman)
- (60 hours/semester) This course prepares the student for the MA State Examination for the Journeyman Plumbing license. This course consists of 300 hours of instruction for apprentices working in the plumbing trade. Students must purchase the textbook before the first class.
- 605 – OSHA 10-Hour
- Upon completion of the OSHA 10-Hour construction safety course, the student will have a basic knowledge of important safety requirements in the construction industry. The OSHA 10-Hour class is becoming a requirement for numerous construction companies. A new law in the state of MA requires all employees on a prevailing rate job to have an OSHA 10-Hour card as of July 2006. Each student will receive an OSHA 10-Hour card upon successful completion of the course. This course will be taught by construction trade instructors who have completed OSHA’s Train-the-Trainer course.
- 606 – 15 Hours Mandated Electrical Education
- Provides 15 hours continuing education as required by the Board of State Examiners of Electricians for the 3-year period before license renewal. Includes MA Electrical Code, amendments, laws, and regulations.
- 607 – Photovoltaic Solar Panel Installation New
- This course introduces students to the fundamentals of photovoltaic (PV) system installation and maintenance procedures. The class is divided between classroom-based lectures/activities and project-based activities involving the installation of a residential scale PV system. Upon completion of this course, students are able to define basic electrical terms, identify safety hazards associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of PV systems, calculate simple circuit values and measure them with a multimeter, and compare features and benefits of the most common solar module mounting techniques.
- 610 – Welding Certification
- Hands-on practice for welding certification in the following areas: 1) 7018 all positions -- limited and unlimited testing; 2) Flux core --all positions -- limited and unlimited testing; 3) Mig -- 1/8 steel vertical (F, H + V). Suggestions and recommendations on a particular area are available. Check on availability of Flux core and Mig upon registration. Certification practice tests included.Safety glasses must be provided by students.
- 613 – ServSafe (Food Protection Manager Certification)
- Many cities and towns require that all food service professionals and food handlers be certified in food service sanitation. If it’s time for you to be certified, this course is for you. Topics covered will include How To’s, Do’s, and Don’t’s for receiving, storing, cooking, cooling, and reheating food safely. Temperatures, illnesses, chemicals, food types, and government regulations will be covered. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a federally registered certification document good for 5 years.
- 620 – Manicuring
- This course consists of 100 hours of instruction and will take 25 nights to complete. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be eligible to take the state board exam leading to a Manicurist license. Textbook and supplies are included.
- 622 – Cosmetology (Evenings)
- This 1-year, 1,000-hour program is designed to provide the student with the basics of the art, science, and business aspects of the cosmetology profession and to prepare the student to become a competent, qualified professional, who meets entry-level industry standards. It includes all phases of cosmetology (hairstyling, cutting, permanent waves, coloring, manicuring, and skin care). During the second half of the program, students will perfect these basic skills through hands-on training, when services are offered to the public. Upon completion of the program, the student will be eligible to take the state board exam leading to a Cosmetology license. Students must purchase kits on the first day of class.
- 623 – Aesthetics & Skin Care
- This 300-hour program is completed in just 30 weeks (2 four-hour sessions per week). Students are required to wear a white uniform and white shoes. Our Aesthetics Program is intended to qualify students for the MA Aesthetic licensing exam and to prepare them for successful careers in skin care. Some of the areas covered are: • Skin Analysis and Consultation • Cosmetic Chemistry • Make-up Application • Anatomy and Physiology • Hair Removal • Salon and Spa Business Class size limited to 10.
- 630 – Practical Nursing (Evenings)
- This 2-year program is fully approved by the Board of Registration in Nursing. It is designed to prepare students for competent, ethical, entry-level careers in the care of diverse populations in structured health care settings. Practical Nursing education is a planned sequence of teaching-learning events utilizing the Nursing Process. The Nursing Process is a dynamic problem-solving activity, critical thinking-based approach to meeting the needs of individuals for the promotion and/or maintenance of health. Upon completion, students receive a certificate and may take the NCLEX-PN exam for licensure. Books, uniforms, exam fee, license fee, and equipment are additional student expenses. - 631 – Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- This program is state-certified and provides students with the skills needed to work in a variety of medical settings. Topics include physical and emotional care of patients, vital signs, communication skills, handling of stress, safety issues, and the aging process. The course consists of classroom instruction followed by practice in a nursing lab. In order to apply these skills in a clinical setting, approximately 24 hours will be spent in a nursing home under the supervision of the instructor. These hours may be extended from 4PM-8PM or 5PM-9PM. Students must show evidence of good health from their physician, proof of a negative TB test within the last 6 months, and will be free of back problems and lifting restrictions. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to apply for the State Department of Public Health exam. Textbook and supplies are included.
- 633 – Phlebotomy Technician
- This 90-hour course prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects of blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy, physiology, blood collection procedures, hands-on specimen practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Note: There is no outside externship rotation with this program. Textbooks included.
- 634 – Pharmacy Technician
- This comprehensive 50-hour course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion and community pharmacies, and other health care settings under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes pharmacy-specific medical terminology, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement. Textbooks included.
- 635 – EKG Technician Certification
- This comprehensive 50-hour course prepares students to be EKG Technicians and take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians - EKG Technician exam and other National Certification exams. The course includes important practice and background information on heart anatomy and physiology, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, laboratory assisting, electrocardiography, and echocardiography. Additionally, students will practice with equipment and perform hands-on labs including an intro to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, normal chest wall anatomy for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement, and other clinical practices.
- 636 – Medical Billing & Coding
- This combined 70-hour billing and coding course offers the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-9 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent clients, appeal denied claims, and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures. The course covers the following areas: CPT (introduction, guidelines, evaluation, and management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology, and laboratory), ICD-9 (introduction and guidelines), and basic claims processes for medical insurance and third party reimbursements. Students will learn how to find the service and codes using manuals (CPT, ICD-9, and HCPCS). After obtaining the suggested practical work experience (6 months-2 years), students who complete this course could be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) - Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPCH Apprentice); the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam; and/or other National Certification Exams.
- 637 – American Heart Association CPR/First Aid/AED
- This course teaches you the signs of cardiac arrest and the steps in the Chain of Survival. Students will receive instruction and skills training for infant, child, and adult CPR, foreign body airway obstruction management, and the use of an automated external defibrillator. Certification is good for 2 years.
- 638 – Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
- Taught through the American Heart Association, this course covers CPR training for infants, children, and adults, how to use an automated external defibrillator, how to administer choking relief, proper use of barrier devices, and bag valve mask ventilation. Great for EMS personnel, nurses, doctors, and other health care professionals. Certification is good for 2 years.
- 660 – Microsoft Office Specialist Certification-Word New
- This course prepares candidates for the Microsoft Word Specialist Certification Exam. Knowledge of Word basics is required. Topicscovered will include, Using Mail Merge,Working with Forms, Working with Large Documents, Macros, customizing menus and toolbars, using XML features and sharing documents. Practice computer certification exams will be given each week to assist candidates in passing the certification exam. Certification exam is optional, and a separate fee will be collected at time of the exam.
- 661 – Microsoft Office Specialist Certification-Excel New
- This course will prepare candidates for the Microsoft Excel Specialist Certification Exam. Knowledge of Excel basics is required. Topics covered will be Advanced Formulas, lookups, data tables, Pivot Tables and charts, using analytical options, Macros and creating simple Web pages with spreadsheets. Practice computer certification exams will be given each week to assist candidates in passing the certification exam. Certification exam is optional, and a separate fee will be collected at time of exam.
- 672 – Electrical Apprentice Training-Tier I/Module 2 New
- This is the second of 8 Modules needed in the 600 hours of required apprentice training. Certified instruction for apprentices working in the electrical trade. It is designed to provide instruction in Electrical Bonding and Grounding, Low Voltage Systems and Controls, Fire Warning and Security Systems Design and Testing (NFPA 72).
- 674 – Electrical Apprentice Training-Tier I/Module 4 New
- Fourth in the series of 8 Modules needed in the 600 hours of required apprentice training. Fiber, Data, and Communications Wiring and Systems along with Massachusetts Laws and Regulations pertaining to electrical wiring and the conduct of technicians and apprentices, including Inspection requirements, will make up the curriculum.

- This 1-year course of instruction consists of 1,000 hours as required by the State Board of Registration of Cosmetologists.
